RSVP ( nrjarvis@raytheon.com ) if you plan to attend in
person, or via teleconference, and indicate refreshments or not,
so we can get a head-count to Capt
Cooper.
The call in number will be (719) 333-0148. We’ll call in first ~ 1850 (6:50 PM) and then others can join
in. Detailed notes provided below.
Also, if we have anyone needing to come into cadet area after the bus leaves at 1800 (6 PM), or needing to leave prior to 2000 (8 PM), we’ll work it on case-by-case (we’ll have a cadet standing by with a POV to navigate the gates).
Just so everyone knows if they come late call Capt Cooper's cell phone (719-482-5775), and he’ll dispatch a cadet to come pick them up. Just as a backup you can use my cell phone to contact us also (719-205-1610).
He’s arranged for a bus to transport most of us from the missile (departing at 1800, 6 PM), and will return everyone to the missile at 2000 (8 PM).
We’ll have a couple subway sandwich trays, fixin’s and drinks.
Call-in number:
Number: 333-0148, allows 30 callers
Date/Time: 17 Apr 2008, 1800 / 6 PM (social only, please don't call in until 1900 / 7 PM), 1900 / 7 PM to 2000 / 8 PM (telecon/web-ex)
POC: Captain Cory Cooper, 333-3545
Instructions: The first caller will dial the assigned conference number (DSN or commercial). The line will ring until the second caller dials the conference number. They will automatically link once there are two callers on the line. Then anyone connecting to the teleconference will automatically link once they dial in. (It is usually best to have them identify themselves once they are connected; and then finish with a roll call to ensure you have all of your callers.) If the first caller disconnects early sometimes the conference bridge is lost entirely, so that's why we are asking everyone to wait until we bring it up at 1850 (6:50 PM).

P.S. The next monthly CFR INCOSE meeting for May is currently tentatively planned to be hosted at Booz Allen in Colorado Springs, but the exact date / topic / speaker are still TBD ATT.
Topic:
USAF Academy
Systems Engineering Programs
Date:
Thursday, 17 April 2008
Time: 1800 - 1900 (6:00 - 7:00 PM) Social
Hour (please meet around 5:45 PM at
Minuteman missile just outside Field House to catch bus into cadet
area)
1900 -
2000 (7:00 - 8:00 PM) Presentation & Questions
Location: US
Air Force Academy (Building/Room - TBD; meeting
for bus ride into cadet area at Minuteman missile outside USAFA Field House
at approximately 5:45 PM; just outside building where the basketball court
- Clune arena, indoor track, and ice arena are located)
Abstract:
Started in
the spring of 2003, the US Air Force Academy’s Systems Engineering and Systems
Engineering Management program has met a critical need of the US Air Force and
nation. Initiated with no additional resources, the enrollment for the
combined major now represents roughly a tenth of the entire cadet wing.
The program focus aligns mostly with the “E” in SE and studies the relationship
of hardware, software and human systems in today’s complex systems. The
presentation will give an overview of the USAFA SE-SEM program formulation and
our current efforts to include Capstone engineering projects.
INCOSE
members, please RSVP by Tuesday, 15 April 2008 to: Norm Jarvis ( nrjarvis@raytheon.com ) and
please indicate if you would like refreshments.
We request a $5 donation
if you want refreshments (pizza and soda).
Please include whether or not you will join in the refreshments in your
email, so we can know how much food to
order.
We’ll arrange for transportation between the
Field House (Minuteman missile) up to the cadet area and to the room where we’ll
meet, and
back afterwards.
If folks need to
come late/leave early, we’ll handle on a case by case basis. Most of the
cadet area is within a short walking distance from the Field House, if you know
which direction you need to go from the meeting
Bldg/Rm.
Here’s the map to the field house parking
lot:
Address: 2169 Field
House Dr., USAFA, CO 80840
Map Link:
Short
Directions: From I-25, take exit 156 and head west. There will be signs to
the cadet field house (ice arena, Clune arena, and indoor track). Take
North Gate Blvd to Parade Loop (turn Left). Veer right onto Field House
Drive. You can continue through an open swing gate to park as close to the
missile or entrance to the field house as you like.
It might be helpful to look at the "Satellite" view on
the Google maps link that Capt Cooper
sent us above. The item listed
"C" Cadet Ice Arena on the map is the same location as the Field
House where we will meet at.
The pointer to "C" is not exactly in front of the Field House, but if you
look at the Satellite view, you can see the Minuteman missile in the image (white blurry object with
long thin shadow). The Missile is where Cory said we should meet the
bus.
All of this is important because the Academy property is
huge, and there are
many cadet areas that you cannot
drive to, so it is very easy for
folks to get lost!
If you get lost or miss the bus, give me a call on my cell phone (205-1610).
Very Respectfully,
Kirk
